This is one piece from a series of art used to raise funds and educate about the lasting effects of domestic violence on children. The series has been shown by nonprofits, used in art auctions, and exhibited in venues throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. The fruit symbolizes the soft and developing psyche, and the the neurobiology of the child. What this child learns about love and relationships, and how he interacts and perceives others, can be forever changed by growing up in an unsafe environment. For questions about the research and accompanying text, contact the artist.

A fantastic piece Marcy. A piece of art that hits in the gut. A message that we must always be vigilant in protecting our little angels. L/F

You have some powerful work in your portfolio, this one very moving as it is a child. We had a similar show about a year and a half ago for domestic violence involving women, which of course always involves the children. Your work is evocative and moving, I relate to it quite strongly. jean
Marcy Orendorff replied:
Thanks, Jean. I sincerely appreciate your comment. It is a difficult topic to transition from the heart into art so viewers can understand the impact. If it even causes thoughtful pause, I feel like it is doing its job. Such a complex issue and it needs so much attention. If you ever hear of need for this type of work, please get in touch.
